Kaduna drone attack: Senators donate one month salary to victims

Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have donated their one-month salaries amounting to N109 million to the victims of the drone attack that killed over 100 people at Tudun Biri in the Igabi local government area of Kaduna state.

This was made known by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, when he led some senators on behalf of the Senate to sympathise with the people of Kaduna State on Sunday.

He said the Red Chamber is concerned about the unfortunate incident that led to the wanton loss of lives.

According to a statement issued and signed by the media officer to the Deputy Senate President, in this hour of grief, the 10th Senate is with the people, the bereaved families, and the state government while appealing to them to take solace in God.

Responding, the state government’s Senator Uba Sani expressed his pleasure at the prompt visit of both the executives and the legislative arms over the incident.

The Governor also expressed his displeasure over an attempt by some disgruntled elements to bring religious and ethnic sentiments to the attack.

He said the issue has nothing to do with religion or ethnicity, saying that in Kaduna, there is division among the people, either over religious faiths.

Sani said the state government would continue to support the security agencies.

While thanking the senators for the visit, Governor Uba Sani once again called for the creation of state police.
