2 Feared Dead as Fire Razes Lafenwa Market in Ogun

Two persons have been confirmed dead and goods worth millions of Naira destroyed in a Sunday morning fire incident that affected Lafenwa market Abeokuta.

Commissioner of Police in Ogun state, Lanre Bankole confirmed the incident while briefing newsmen on the level of damage done at the market in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Galaxy TV News gathered that the fire incident occurred as a result of a fully-loaded fuel-laden tanker that fell while trying to negotiate the bend around Lafenwa Ayetoro road close to the railway line.

Our Correspondent further gathered that some hoodlums in the area attacked the firefighters from the federal and Ogun state fire services and damaged their fire fighting trucks.

However, the intervention of the Police led by the Commissioner of Police in Ogun state Lanre Bankole restored normalcy in the area.

Efforts were still ongoing to trans-load the remaining fuel in the tanker and tow the fallen tanker out of the road.
