Over 22,000 people killed in Israeli and Palestine Crisis

The Ambassador of the Embassy of the State of Palestine Abdullah Shawesh, said over 22,000 people including 9,100 children and 6,500 women have been killed in deliberate, indiscriminate bombings and buried, with more than 7,000 mostly women and children, remain unaccounted still missing under the rubble.

According to him, additional 5,500 Palestinians have been arrested in the last three months, including 355 children and 184 women.

Shawesh who made this known at a press conference in Abuja stressing that, at least 324 Palestinians, 83 of them children, have been killed in attacks across the West Bank and over 3,800 injured, raising the casualty toll there to 524 Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers in 2023,

He described the year as the deadliest since OCHA documentation began in 2005.

He said on average, there is now just 1.5 liters of water per person in Gaza per day to cover all their needs, from drinking to bathing and cleaning.

Shawesh said in addition to the minimum of 15 liters of water per day per person required for basic survival, pregnant and lactating women need another 7.5 liters of safe water a day to keep themselves and their babies healthy.

According to the ambassador, a staggering 1.9 million Palestinians in Gaza – more than 80% of the population- have been internally displaced.

Shawesh However lamented that people of Gaza, who have already suffered enough, now face death from starvation and diseases that could be easily treated with a functioning health system.

He said It has become very clear to all political commentators that this war is not solely for achieving the two main declared goals, but also for saving the political future of the Prime Minister and avoiding his old trial for the three cases of bribery, fraud and breach of trust.
